The Alba Jazz festival 2012

With summer fast approaching, Italy prepares itself for the various outdoor music festivals which are such a highlight of the year.

In Alba we kick off with the Alba Jazz festival that takes place between 7/10 June. The concerts will be held in some of Alba’s most beautiful Piazze (squares). Artists include, Luca Mannutza,Lorenzo Tucci,Paolo Fresu and Hamish Stuart.

My favorite is the Monforte Jazz festival held in July in the historic centre of Monforte d’Alba near Barolo. The concerts are held over a period of a week or so in a small  amphitheater. We usually start off we diner in the main Piazza and head off toward the concert. It’s such a great atmosphere that words can’t really describe.

At the moment we are still waiting for the line up of the Monforte festival, I’m really looking forward to it. I’ll keep you posted.

The Alba Jazz Festival 2011

The fantastic annual Alba Jazz festival is about to place and is being held between 9-12th of June. It will feature some of Italy’s finest jazz musicians and take place in some of the most beautiful places Alba has to offer.

The event starts on 9th June and features Rossario Bonaccorso and takes place in Piazza Savona at 21.00.

The 10th June sees the Felice Reggio trio, Dado Moroni and Bert Joris playing again at Piazza Savona starting at 19.30.

The 11th June sees the P-Funking Band starting at 18.00 in the historic centre of Alba and finally on 12th June we have “Aperitvo in Jazz” at 11.00 am in the historic centre of Alba followed by Gegè Munari and Flavio Boltro at 21.00 in Piazza Pertinace.

Even if jazz is not your thing it’s worth going as the atmosphere is great, plenty of people, beautiful weather and great wine. What a combination!
